Nuthiya started her love affair with dance music in 1999. From seeing her favorite dj’s at raves and concerts, to being surrounded by them on a regular basis, her desire to get behind the turntables herself came very naturally. After enrolling into Excessive Royal DJ Academy in Kuala Lumpur to study and perfect the art of DJ’ing, Nuthiya became a methodical and focused mixer, whose track selection, arrangement, musical depth, and ethereal playing style seperated her from her peers.
Nuthiya plays regularly in Kuala Lumpur where she is now home based and her 2009 appearances at events such as Queen of Heart Zouk, PUSH, Scandalous LunaBar, Soul & Unity Barsu and Disco Paradis Franggipani, Superfunk @ Maison Silent Disco (BAT) and many more. Her influences come from across the global magma with names like Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin and Simon Baker cited as sources of inspiration. In the world of production, it is Loco Dice, Luciano, Guy Gerber. and Booka Shade that have inspired her path. By building her mixes to create an addictive groove, this magic behind the decks has taken Nuthiya to play at Bali, the precious island of Indonesia and got to played at the legendary club Double Six and Dejavu. As her musical horizons expand, so does opportunity to perform locally and internationally. Rife with opportunity and ability, Nuthiya continues to grow as an artist and DJ. What separates her from the rest is the undying commitment to quality tunes whilst translating her sparkling sophistication and style to the dancefloor. When she is not spinning she is continually pushing herself to seek out new sounds, songs that inspire her to put in her live and recorded sets. We will also see more of her as she’s going to tour around the region later of the year. Nuthiya is clearly making tremors in the club scene, and in her own words, “rockin’ the dancefloor!!”
