Ivor Novello nominees Jon Pearn and Nick Bridges are two of the most talented and in-demand producers in the UK. Having both enjoyed huge success as solo producers and through previous partnerships, it is now as Bodyrox and through their own Juki Records imprint where the pair are enjoying new-found success and attracting a new legion of fans.
Having produced the biggest electro record of the Miami WMC 2006, Bodyrox ‘Yeah Yeah’ went on to become ‘the club anthem of 2006’ with the help of Luciana, spurring a new genre of house that journalists are calling ‘New Rave’.
With specialist radio support from Pete Tong, Judge Jules, Fergie, Dave Pearce, Zane Lowe, Jo Whiley, Annie Mac, Edith Bowman, Annie Nightingale, Sarah Cox and Trophy Twins on Radio One alone, ‘Yeah Yeah’ smashed into the UK national chart in November 2006 at 2 (Radio One Playlist 1, Cool Cuts 1, Shazam Tag Chart 1, Beatport Download Chart 1, The Box Playlist 1).
With a further productions signed to majors (Positiva, Data, Phonetic & Eye Industries/Universal) for release later this year including ‘Everytime I see her (Sound of Eden) under their ‘Another Chance’ pseudonym (No.1 Music Week Upfront Club Chart, No.2 Music Week Pop Tip Chart, No.1 Music Week Coolcuts, No.1 DMC Buzz Chart, No.1 DMC Club Chart, No.1 DMC Mainstream, No.1 Galaxy Chart Show on MTV Dance), 2007 is shaping up to be quite a year for them.
Jon Pearn and Michael Gray first burst onto the scene as Full Intention in 1994 with the pair’s remix of Duke’s ‘So In Love With You’, which rocketed into the Top 20 charts. Jon and Michael went on to become one of the most celebrated British remix duos in the world, putting their golden touch to tracks by Shena, Dajae, Dina Vass, Bob Sinclar, Mood 2 Swing, Junior Jack, Brandy, Powerhouse, Ultra Nate, Jennifer Lopez, Frankie Knuckles and George Michael, for which the pair’s remix of ‘Amazing’ earned Full Intention a prestigious Grammy nomination.
Nick Bridges’ background is no-less successful. As a technically-gifted DJ nominated in the International House Music Awards, Nick is currently enjoying residencies at some of the most famous and influential clubs in the World including (DJ Mag’s No.1 club in the World) Fabric for DTPM. Having gained legions of fans from touring for Ministry of Sound since 2001, Nick was made resident at Ministry of Sound London in 2004 and went on to compile and mix several highly acclaimed compilations. It was here that he was introduced to radio and quickly moved on to host his own specialist show on one of UK biggest dance music stations, Kiss 105 (Vibe FM).
Jon and Nick first started working together in 2004 when their debut single was released on Seamus Haji’s Big Love imprint; it received massive club and Hype Chart support.
The pair launched their own Juki Records imprint in 2005 with their debut, ‘$treet Price’, receiving unanimous support from the UK press (5/5 in IDJ Magazine) in August 2005 in addition to being hammered by the likes of Deep Dish, Sander Kleinenberg, Mark Knight and many more. Their second EP, ‘Give It All That You’ve Got’ was similarly well-received and firmly established the pair as one of the most innovative production outfits in Europe.
Having recently signed to Notting Hill Publishing, the pair are currently working with some of the best singer/songwriters in the World on a number of projects including the Bodyrox follow up to be unleashed Summer 2007.
