With this all-in-one ultimate Ipoh travel tips & guide, we will take you to a whole new level of the best sight-seeing and travel around the historical Ipoh city.
If you are looking for a place with rich traditions and history but still want to get the best of its places, food and entertainment, then you might want to visit Ipoh City. During the 19th century, Ipoh City became famous in mining. The ‘Town Built on Tin’ as the locals would call it, Ipoh City once was a rich tin-mining industry in the British colonial era. Immense fortune was made during these times, and most of its architectural façade was inspired by British architectural design. Some of these edifices are still present in the city today, such as the Railway Station, the Town Hall and the Court House.
In the 1970’s, the rich tin-mining industry collapsed, and progress stopped because of the downfall of the industry’s pricing. On May 1988, the city was granted its city status. The beautiful Kinta River is what separates the Ipoh Old and Ipoh New towns. If you have visited Penang Island and saw those wall art murals, yes you can find it in Ipoh too. The wall art murals by Ernest Zacharevic can be found in certain areas around Ipoh Old Town.
Ipoh City is Malaysia’s third largest city and is known as the gateway to the Cameron Highlands. The Capital City of the Perak state, this city is populated by over 710,000 people. Today, this city is famous not just for its history, but of the beautiful places and delicious food hangouts it has to offer.
