DJ LouLou is one of Australia’s most notable female DJs in the dance music scene since she rose to local stardom in little under 3 years. LouLou comes from a background of entertainment including acting, modeling, singing and piano and now in more recent years DJing. Her father is a singer/ guitarist so it’s not unusual that she too had an innate passion for music and has been at the forefront of what’s what and who’s who in the music scene.
LouLou has been fortunate enough to warm up dance floors for both national and International DJs to name a few: DJ Neshproject (China), DJ Micho (Bulgaria), DJ Wael (Jordan), DJ Bexta (AU), Amber Savage (AU), Keli Hart (AU), Dimiitraxx (Melb,AU), Archie (AU), Tonite Only (US) (Sam La More, Groove Terminator), Sucker DJs (UK), Judge Jules (UK), Roger Sanchez (US), Mobin Master (AU), Dj Neroli (AU), Luna (AU), Miss Tracey (AU), and DJ CHIA (AU).
Today DJ LouLou, as she’s best known in the entertainment business, is one of a handful of female DJs in Adelaide, South Australia making a living and hobby from her passion for dance music. In June 2007 Loulou was nominated in two categories at the 2007 SADMA (South Australian Dance Music Awards) “Most Popular Up & Coming DJ” and “Most Popular Groove/Electronica DJ”. She successfully won the title of “Most Popular Up and Coming DJ” for 2007. She was one of two female DJs taking awards home on the night.
A couple of months later she was nominated for the annual INTHEMIX Top 50 Australian DJ Poll which saw LouLou polling in the Top 10 DJs for her state.
LouLou has been cited as one of the most influential Female DJs in Australia for pioneering House and Electro in a very male dominated music scene. She likes to class herself as a “peoples DJ” always taking the time to stay and chat with clubbers and soak up the scene.
A great personal achievement that saw LouLou’s popularity rise in Australia was her creation of an all female DJ club night. Together with another female DJ they established the club night “Booty Beats” which was scheduled monthly to promote female DJ awareness in the male dominated club scene. Overall, the monthly events were received well and assisted in the promotion of other local female DJs.
In November 2007 LouLou traveled to the United States to check out the Electronica scene in Los Angeles and to meet other female DJs who have been made a successful splash on the scene both in the. LouLou was fortunate enough to meet some very influential and popular DJs and producers on the West Coast House music scene to which she remains in regular contact with for future projects.
On New Years Eve 2007/2008 saw LouLou jet set to Vietnam to perform at the 5 star Sheraton Hotel, in Vietnam’s capital, Hanoi. The was an amazing experience for LouLou not only from a DJing perspective but having the opportunity to DJ to a crowd who are still very new to the Western dance scene enabling LouLou to bridge the gap Between Asian and western culture.
In July 2008 LouLou accepted a month residency in club Nai, a well-renowned 5 star club in Amman, Jordan, Middle East. Surprising and educating dance floors in this region LouLou was contracted to continue DJing in Nai for another 3 months. She is also employed as club Nai’s ambassador and promoter and event coordinator – the first female expatriate in this region to adopt such a role. Currently, she is undergoing this residency and building her popularity and database within the Middle East.
Meanwhile, LouLou’s success back home is still continuing whilst she is overseas. In August 2008 LouLou again ranked in the top 10 DJs for South Australia in the SONY iNTHEMIX50 Australian DJ Poll following the 2007 TECHNICS INTHEMIX 50 DJ Poll.
When she isn’t DJing LouLou is working hard on her current music projects which she feels are just the beginning of still an early music career. She has recently collaborated with producer, Aquilaganja (UK). Together they will release a number of tracks ranging from Pop to Jackin’ House and electro. Stay tuned for up & coming releases!
Nationally and internationally, LouLou plays a variety of dance genres anything from funky and sexy house, dirty electro, twisted techy minimal house, progressive, jackin’ and tribal house. Locally you can catch her play house and electro with a dash of pop and RnB remixes for good measure. LouLou is known to bridge the gap between the commercial and underground of dance genres and is not afraid of dropping the odd cheesy track whilst introducing anything new to clubbers ears.
