Transformers 3 is the working title for the third and final film in the live action Transformers series, directed by Michael Bay and produced by Steven Spielberg. It is the sequel to Transformers and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and is scheduled for release on July 1, 2011 in Real D 3D theaters in the United States and in IMAX 3D.
Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, John Turturro and Ramón Rodríguez are set to reprise their starring roles, with Peter Cullen also returning as the voice of Optimus Prime. Ehren Kruger, who collaborated in the writing of the second film, was said to be again involved in the writing. Despite having initially been confirmed for the film, with the film already into principal photography, Megan Fox will not reprise her role. Michael Bay has stated that this will be the last film in the series.
As of March 19, 2010, the script was said to be finished, and pre-shoots began on April 7, 2010 in Indiana, which will portray Ukraine and Los Angeles. Filming began on May 18. The first six weeks were filmed in Los Angeles. The filming locations of Los Angeles included Sherman Oaks and Fourth Avenue. The next segment of filming is taking place in Chicago. Filming locations in Chicago include LaSalle Street (the financial district in Chicago), Michigan Avenue (a major shopping area), Trump Tower, Bacino’s of Lincoln Park at 2204 North Lincoln Avenue and near the area of Willis Tower — formerly Sears Tower. The Michigan Ave scene is filled with wrecked cars, battle scenes, gunfire and explosions. In early August filming is planned to proceed to Washington, D.C. and Florida. Other planned filming locations include Milwaukee, Texas, Africa, Moscow, and China. The film is being shot entirely with 3D cameras rather than converting the footage into 3D during post-production.
The movie stars Shia LaBeouf as Sam Witwicky, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley as Mikaela Banes, Josh Duhamel as Major Lennox, Ken Jeong, Micaela Johnson as Sam’s Girl, John Malkovich as Sam’s Boss, Patrick Dempsey, Frances McDormand as the National Intelligence Director, and more.

LaBeouf claims that his character goes through several changes as he branches off into adulthood and getting a new woman is just one of them.
“I love Megan and I miss the girl,” LaBeouf says, flecked with fake blood and dirt during a break between shooting. “But Sam and Mikaela became one character, and here … you have discovery again from a new perspective.”
With that new perspective we’ll see the Transformers story wrapping up as a trilogy instead of a long running series. Neither Bay nor di Bonaventura plan on making another movie beyond this installment. The plot is being kept secret but the director did reveal that it centers on a space race between the U.S.S.R. and the USA.
“The movie is more of a mystery,” Bay says. “It ties in what we know as history growing up as kids with what really happened.”
He also stated that the movie could be rebooted again but he’s got a killer ending planned so he doesn’t see why the studio would want to. Does that mean a major character is going to die? How about Optimus Prime or maybe Bumblebee? Who do you think will bite the dust?
